It's now true that TouchVPN, Inc. has announced the availability of free Android applications. The popular messaging app is no longer just for BlackBerry handsets. And it looks like other popular applications will follow suit. Most consumers do not know that TouchVPN offers a free Android application to their new subscribers. In this article, we will take a look at the application and find out if it is really free.
After a few months of testing, we've found out that most free apps are either paid or limited to certain parts of the market. In this case, most of the applications are a touch below average in terms of their quality. You have to take a look at the quality of the icons, and the quality of the app design. If you see a free app that has a very nice and colorful icon, there is a good chance that it is nothing more than a hoax. The icons of some of the popular applications that we tested were ugly, and you have to wonder why they included them. We had no luck in getting any of the applications working at all. But for what it's worth, all the tests seemed to point towards the developers of the application.
So basically, the free Android application is nothing more than a rip off of the popular apps like Trello and HipChat. A few months back, the developers of the free application even tried to get rid of all the problems that consumers had complained about, like the lack of an Android application store and poor quality icons. We cannot say whether or not we believe this application to be legitimate, but we can say that the application was never really free to start with.
